How Donating Can increase your wealth?

Hey

it’s a cold morning, and you’re sitting in your favorite coffee shop, savoring the warmth of your cup.

You glance out the window and see someone standing on the street corner, shivering in the cold.

You can see the need in his eyes as he waits, probably without a meal or a warm drink in sight.

In a moment of kindness, you decide to do something small but meaningful: you pay for his coffee and buy him a warm breakfast.

You walk outside, hand him the coffee, and watch his face light up with gratitude.

You feel an unexpected warmth in your heart too — the kind that only comes from helping others.

This is the power of giving. It doesn’t matter how much you give.

What matters is that, by giving, you are making the world a little brighter for someone else — and enriching your own life in the process.

The Joy and Reciprocity of Giving

Giving is not only about the recipient, but it also has an impact on you.

Generosity boosts your happiness. Studies show that when you give, whether it’s a small donation or your time, your brain releases endorphins, giving you what’s often called a “helper’s high.”

And when you see the effect of your gift, like the smile of the man with his warm coffee, you feel a deeper sense of fulfillment.

But here’s the incredible thing about giving: it has a way of coming back to you, sometimes in ways you can’t even predict.

I know of someone who had only $100 to their name.

This person was in a tight spot but saw that there was a group of people raising funds to build a mosque.

Despite his limited resources, he decided to contribute that $100 to the cause. He didn’t think twice, he just gave.

A few months later, the people building the mosque asked him if he would like to help with the construction.

He agreed, and over the months, he worked with them. At the end of the year, after contributing both his time and his money, he was offered $1,000 for his work.

So, how did $100 turn into $1,000?

That’s the power of giving.

When you give, even when you don’t have much, it has a way of coming back to you in unexpected ways.

It’s God returning your generosity.

You might not always see the direct link, but the energy of giving often finds its way back to you, in abundance.

Building the Habit of Giving

If you’re new to the idea of giving or haven’t made it a regular part of your life, don’t worry, you can start small. The key is consistency and intention.

Here’s how you can build this habit:

  1. Start Small: Maybe start by donating just $1 every week. It’s a small commitment, but it gets you into the habit. And, once you start, you’ll likely find yourself wanting to do more.

  2. Gradual Increase: As you feel more comfortable, increase your donation to $10 a week. It doesn’t need to be overwhelming; just a small increase at your own pace. You’ll feel the rewards of giving more, both in your heart and, in some cases, in your bank account.

  3. Spontaneous Giving: Keep some cash aside for moments of spontaneous giving, whether it’s to someone on the street or helping a friend in need. You don’t always need to plan; sometimes the best gifts are the unplanned ones.

  4. Set a Percentage: You can set aside a small percentage of your income each month for charitable giving. Whether it’s 1%, 3%, or more, this makes giving an intentional part of your financial routine.

  5. Reflect on the Impact: Think about the causes you care about most. Knowing that your contributions help support something you truly believe in makes the act of giving even more powerful.

  6. Incorporate Giving into Your Budget: Just like your rent or your groceries, make giving a non-negotiable part of your monthly budget. Once you do, you’ll realize that the more you give, the more it feels natural.

A Cycle of Generosity

You see, the act of giving doesn’t just help the person receiving it, it helps you too. Not just in terms of feeling good about yourself, but in the way it opens doors for opportunities, growth, and connection.

Like the person who gave their $100 to the mosque, you might not see an immediate return, but trust that generosity has a way of multiplying.

So, if you haven’t made giving a regular part of your routine yet, I encourage you to start today.

The smallest actions can lead to the greatest rewards, for both you and the world around you.

By giving, you're not just changing someone else's life. You're changing yours, too.
