Why I stopped waiting for results to celebrate

Why I stopped waiting for results to celebrate

Hey,

When was the last time you treated yourself for taking action?

Not for hitting the goal. Not for getting the result. Just for showing up and doing what you said you would do.

I was planning the new reward system for Second Brain 7.0 and I wanted to make it different this time.

In the current version, you get rewarded when you hit goals. But here is the problem.

You cannot control the outcome.

You do not know if you are going to make that 100K this year. Or lose 10kg. Or hit 100K subscribers on YouTube.

But you can control your actions.

Working day and night on your business. Sticking to the diet for months. Posting two videos every week.

So why not treat yourself for that?

If you worked out this entire month. 50 minutes every day. Did your cardio. Stuck to your diet. At the end of the month, treat yourself. Maybe even at the end of the week. A dessert. A nice meal. Something.

If you finished all the project tasks. Everything done. You worked late nights. Pushed through when you did not feel like it. Why not treat yourself with a day off? A new gadget? Whatever makes you feel good.

And it does not matter if the project got results or not.

If it did, great. If it did not, you still showed up. You still kept the promise you made to yourself. That deserves something.

Our society only congratulates the ones with results.

But results are not always about action.

You can take all the right actions and not get the results you want. And you can take no action and results still come. That is just how life works sometimes.

Think about school.

They always give gifts to the top 3 students. But what if those top 3 are smart by default? They did not study that hard. Their memory is just better. Their genetics gave them an advantage.

And the 4th or 5th student? They studied late nights. They pushed themselves. But their memory is not as sharp. Their mind does not work the same way.

So we do not congratulate them?

They worked just as hard. Maybe harder.

That never made sense to me.

We are also too hard on ourselves.

We believe if we did not get the result, we do not deserve the reward. We do not deserve to feel good. We do not deserve to celebrate.

That is wrong.

Treating yourself even when you do not get the outcome you want, knowing that you pushed to the limit, is powerful.

It motivates you. It makes you feel good about yourself. It gives you extra energy to keep going. To try again. To not give up.

For a long time in my life, especially when I started this business, I was so strict on myself.

I was influenced by the David Goggins and Andrew Tate advice. Work hard. Does not matter how you feel. You are a man. Push through. No excuses.

Then I discovered a few things.

First, we are human.

Second, working hard does not mean getting results. You might be working hard in the wrong direction.

And third... let me stay silent. I do not want to talk badly about anyone. I still respect David Goggins.

But there is a part of that advice that is right. And a part that is not.

Do not be so hard on yourself.

Treat yourself. Take care of yourself. Because your body and mind are what you have. They will stay with you in the hard times. And celebrate with you in the good ones.

If you do not take care of them, who will?

Rewarding yourself whenever you keep the promise of taking action is worth it. It changes how you see yourself. It changes how you show up.

And it is going to be a big feature in Second Brain 7.0.

I am crafting the ideas now. And it is going great.

People already love the current version. They use it every day. They share it with others. They recommend it. The next one is going to be even better.

P.S. — You kept your promises this week. You showed up. That is more than most people do. You deserve something for that.
