Why you should shut up about your next move

Never Let Them Know Your Next Move

Never Let Them Know Your Next Move
Never Let Them Know Your Next Move

You ever feel like you're doing everything right…

but still not getting anywhere?

You’ve got the ideas.
The plans.
The motivation.

You talk about what’s coming.
You share your vision.
You feel hyped just saying it.

But deep down… you’re stuck.

It’s a trap almost every creative or builder falls into:

Talking about what you’re going to do gives you the illusion of progress.

You tell a friend about your next project.

You post a teaser on your story.

You share a screenshot, a plan, a quote.

It feels like motion.

But nothing is built.

Nothing is shipped.

No one is helped.

And worst of all?

Your brain thinks the work is already done.

The personal lesson

For nearly 7 months, I kept talking about upgrading my filming setup.

Better gear, better lighting, the cinematic look I wanted.

I told friends. Dropped hints online.

It felt like momentum.

But week after week… I did nothing.

No new camera.

No new setup.

Just talk.

That’s when I realized:

The more I said it out loud, the less pressure I felt to actually do it.

So I stopped talking.

And now? You’ll only hear about it when the final result is live.

The Psychology: Why talking kills action

When you share your goals too early — especially in public —

you get dopamine.

You feel seen.

It tricks your brain into thinking progress is happening.

But that energy should’ve been used to build.

Not to perform.

You said it out loud — so your brain checks it off the list.

Even if nothing exists yet.

Create in silence. Let the work speak.

If you’re serious about what you’re building, stop sharing too soon.

Let the idea grow in tension, not in applause.

“Work in silence. Let success make the noise.”
Cliché, yes. But true.

You don’t reveal seeds.

You grow them — then show the tree.

So what should you do?

  • Build before you broadcast

  • Stop leaking your vision to anyone who’ll listen

  • Let results replace declarations

  • Only share once there’s something to show

You don’t need external validation to move.

You need discipline and momentum.

And if you're tired of over-talking and under-doing — maybe this is your switch.
