Hey,
We all want the same thing.
Do our good habits every day.
Avoid the bad ones.
But most of the time, we slip.
Lack of motivation. Boredom. Environment pulling us back. Or simply not trusting ourselves to go years without breaking once.
I searched YouTube for the best way to build habits.
Everyone talks about tracking. Apps. Routines.
But almost nobody talks about the simple thing, yet the most powerful trick that actually works.
Streaks.
Streaks Are Different
A streak adds weight to your habit.
It is no longer just "did I do it today?"
It becomes "how many days in a row have I done this?"
And that shift changes everything.
Because when you are on day 25 and your mind whispers "skip today," you will remember the pain of starting from zero.
The regret.
The frustration.
Watching your progress disappear.
And you will push through.
The Pain That Makes You Stronger
Yes, streaks can be painful.
If your goal was 30 days and you slip on day 27, you start from scratch.
That hurts.
But that is exactly what makes you stronger next time.
Your brain learns. Your behaviour changes. You start avoiding situations that made you slip. You protect the streak like it matters.
Because it does.
From my experience, somewhere between 90 and 120 days of a streak, something shifts inside you.
You stop needing to try.
The habit becomes part of who you are.
You cannot go back even if you wanted to.
The Mistake Everyone Makes
I saw people trying to streak 7 habits. 10 habits. 12 habits.
And most days, they complete one or two.
I used to have 4 to 6 habits when I started my productivity journey.
Now I have only two.
Both take almost no time.
Both are automatic now.
The same goes for bad habits.
But I found that bad habits are actually harder to break than good ones are to build.
So I stopped trying to fix everything at once.
Now I focus on removing two bad habits per year.
If I can complete an entire year without doing them, I am free.
Two good habits in.
Two bad habits out.
Every year.
That is how you actually change.
When You Slip
You will slip.
We all do.
Especially with addictive stuff. Sugar. Scrolling. Smoking. Worse.
But if you set a 30-day challenge and you lose on day 20?
You did not fail.
You won 20 days.
Next time, aim for 40.
The person who resets 10 times still beats the person who never started.
Start a Streak Challenge
I love streaks so much that I built them into the upcoming Second Brain 7.0
The Habits War page (good vs bad habits) now has a streak tracker and also streak challenges.

Set a target. If you slip, you start again. If you win, you get rewarded.
And there is something secret in Game Mode that grows when you maintain your streaks — I cannot share it yet. But it is designed to make slipping feel impossible.
So 3 days left.
Second Brain 6.0 is 30% off.
When we launch the new version with streaks and Game Mode v3, you get it free.
After launch, prices go up

P.S. — The goal is not a perfect streak. The goal is becoming someone who does not negotiate with themselves.
