Your mind is like bandwidth

Your mind is like bandwidth

Hey,

How are you doing?

I hope you are great. Feeling good.

If not, try to.

Life will pass. Take it with a smile. Enjoy it even when it is hard.

I just felt today I should ask how you are doing first. Not all newsletters do this. But it is my newsletter. I can write whatever I want. No one can stop me.

Just kidding.

I always try to write like I am talking to you directly. Eliminating all boundaries between us. Whether it is distance or time.

Speaking of elimination.

Your mind is like bandwidth.

If you fill it to maximum capacity, it does not add more.

It slows down.

Instead of focusing on fewer things with more impact, you spread yourself thin across everything. And everything suffers.

You can try to increase your bandwidth. Technically, you can train your mind to handle more.

But that is not my point today.

Today I want to talk about removing.

Freeing space.

Like you do to your laptop when it starts getting slower. Or your phone. You delete the old files. The apps you never use. The photos from 2019 you will never look at again.

You leave space for new resources. More attention. More focus.

But here is what most people miss.

It is not just the files that slow you down.

It is the cache.

Those tasks, goals, projects, extra habits, extra actions that you do not actually need in your life. But you keep them in your focus. Even when you are not working on them.

The cache of those files is heavy.

It slows you down. Distracts you. Overwhelms you.

You start feeling tired and fatigued. And you have not even started on the main thing you wanted to work on.

Why?

Because you never sat with yourself. Took a few minutes. And cleared your memory.

Ask yourself.

What can I eliminate this week?

This month?

This year?

So I can focus more on the things that actually bring results.

Is this goal still important to me? Or is it just distracting me?

Last year I was aiming for 500K on Instagram.

Then I removed it.

Why?

Because I did not want it. I did not care. I did not even like Instagram or short form content when I started.

So I eliminated that goal.

And I felt much faster.

How I use elimination every day.

Whenever I have a new project, I throw in many subtasks. As many as I can think of.

Then I subtract. I start eliminating.

This will work. This will not.

Now I have a clear plan.

Same with my daily to-do list.

Sometimes I throw in a bunch of tasks. I know for sure I am not going to be able to do them all today. And some I do not even have to do.

So I start eliminating.

But also delegating. And rescheduling.

That is also elimination. Eliminating from today. Freeing up time.

Your exercise.

Sit with yourself today.

See where you are going.

Open your weekly, monthly, or yearly plan. Open that project plan or structure.

Open whatever you use to organise your life.

Ask yourself:

Do I really need to do all of this?

Is this really necessary? Or am I doing it just because someone else did?

What is not adding any value? What is not going to work? What am I just keeping for no reason?

Eliminate as much as you can.

So you can focus more on what actually takes you to the target.

One thing I do not want to confuse you about.

Sometimes to eliminate, you need to experiment first.

If you want to sell more of your product, you should experiment with many marketing strategies. Keep what works. Eliminate the rest.

If you want to boost your content engagement, you should test many posting strategies. Keep what is working. Eliminate the rest.

This takes time.

But it is worth it.

Because at the end, you will be focused on the only thing that works.

And you will have eliminated the trash. The cache. The extra files filling your bandwidth.

Oh, and for my Muslims reading this.
